The Covid-19 pandemic affected the whole world significantly, from crushing the economy to killing over a million people worldwide so far. One big change that it brought to people’s lives remote working. 

Work-from-home has now become a permanent trend for some firms. It has given each organization a change that can actually be viable for them in the long run. 

Employers and employees both reap benefits as it boosts productivity, is cost-effective, and protects the environment too.

Remote work is work that is done outside of a traditional office and is currently trending worldwide due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently, remote working is the new normal and is a win-win situation for the companies as it kept them running during the pandemic.

Many companies like Mondelez, Nationwide, and Barclays have announced permanent work-from-home for its employees and some other companies have extended the option to work-from-home to its employees also.

It looks like Covid-19 has provided a new way out for the companies to work effectively without the need for a traditional physical office.

Remote working has helped employers in many aspects as now their employees can work from the comfort of their homes.

Most functions of the traditional office can now be done online. For example, employees can be hired and onboarded online. This allows the business to save a considerable amount of time and other resources.

Earlier it wasn’t possible for remote work to be conducted completely online but now things have changed as they can interact and have a productive session with team-mates over a video call. Also, remote working allows people from all over the world to collaborate and work together!

Covid-19 has completely altered the life of the employees as it has given them the flexibility to work from where they want. They can also maintain a better work-life balance by having the ability to spend more time with family and loved ones.

On average, Indians spend 7% of their day commuting to the office, and the average commute time in metros like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, etc is­ over an hour at least.

Remote work has completely changed how things used to be. Now, companies don’t have to worry about leasing expensive office spaces to keep the business running. It is possible to run a business from home successfully today. 

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, remote work has become the new normal around the world as businesses are running on the concept of work-from-home for more than 8 months and many companies have announced extended work-from-home till 31st July’2020 also.

Companies enjoy minimum costs, higher productivity, and higher profitability. With so many benefits, there are high chances of remote work to be a permanent thing for many companies around the world.

Remote work had been trending even before the coronavirus pandemic hit but the pandemic pushed it into the mainstream as companies and businesses were left with no other option.

However, now that we are used to a new way of working which has proven to be just as effective and productive, it might be hard to go back to the old normal.
